This Is a Private Reference Site, Not a Records Office. We cannot retrieve a file, certify a copy, verify anyone's residence, or alter information in a government or private database. Contact the custodian that holds the record for those services. Call 911 for an emergency. Contact Germantown Police if you believe someone is stalking or harassing you.

Where Germantown Records Are Kept

Germantown City Hall is the first contact for City administrative records. City Clerk/Recorder Michele Betty serves as the general custodian route for minutes, ordinances, contracts, correspondence, and other City material not assigned to a different department.

Germantown City Hall

City Clerk/Recorder Michele Betty
1930 South Germantown Road
Germantown, TN 38138
(901) 757-7251
Weekdays, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

The City open-records request hub separates requests by custodian. Court-record requests go to Court Clerk Billy Price at City Hall, (901) 751-5690. Police-report requests go to Captain Josh Schultz at City Hall, (901) 757-7349. Fire and EMS report requests go to Kelly White at 2700 Cross Country Drive, (901) 751-7600. Download the City form, complete it, and email it to the named custodian or deliver it to the published address.

Other records belong to Shelby County or Tennessee rather than Germantown City Hall. Use the record-specific route below so a request reaches the office that can act on it:

  • Deeds, liens, plats, and recorded instruments: Shelby County Register of Deeds and Archives, explained with Germantown public records
  • Property ownership: Shelby County Assessor for owner, address, and parcel searches
  • Municipal cases: Germantown Municipal Court search for index information, then the Court Clerk for copies
  • Birth and death certificates: Shelby County Health Department Vital Records, with Tennessee Vital Records handling statewide certificate services
  • Voter self-lookup and voter data: Tennessee lookup or Shelby County Election Commission through Germantown voter registration
  • Staff, school, phone, property, and historic listings: the sources collected in Germantown people directories

The Tennessee Public Records Act, T.C.A. ยง 10-7-501 et seq., generally gives Tennessee citizens an inspection right for open government records. A custodian may ask for proof of state citizenship. When prompt production is not practical, the office generally has seven business days to produce the record, deny the request in writing with its legal basis, or provide a written estimate. This private reference site does not receive or process those requests.
